Hey guys, looking for some advice about the pre built systems on here... Currently ma set up goes

Core 2 DUO E6600 @ 3.6GHZ - AW9D MAX Motherboard - Arctic Freezer 7 Pro - Cellshock 2GB Ultra Dual Channel Kit OC - BFG 8800 GTXoc'd 768MB - 500GB WD HD - BFG 1000W Power Supply - SyncMaster206bw - Vista Premium 32-Bit

A really want to upgrade pretty soon but since things have moved on in the pc world and av been left behind av not got a clue whats what?? A basically want to buy the best pre built system a can for my budget which is £550 for basically only playing games on.... So which systems on here would you recommend?

for a pre built with a o/s that's tight, you'd be better off with a home build as there is many guides here on how to put it together, you would get a better setup for your money.

but yes as you would need at least win 7 64bit or win 8 even, it doesn't leave a lot left in the pot for other bits, and you haven't got anything really to re use :(

but i'll try

1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £179.99
1 x MSI HD 7850 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards £149.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-DS3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £75.98
1 x Windows 8 Pro Upgrade Edition - from XP SP3 / Vista / Windows 7 £44.99
1 x Samsung Green (MV-3V4G3D/US) 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual Channel Kit £35.99
1 x BitFenix Merc Beta Gaming Case - Black £29.99
Total : £530.42 (includes shipping : £11.25).

re using your psu and hdd and dvd drive, this is the best i can do for the budget and not using any b grade stuff, could re use your case as well and save a bit more if you like it, as i have gone very basic as the budget didn't allow for a better one, just build it and then turn it on, with the dvd in the drive and boot off that as that will upgrade to win 8 for you, for me i'd wipe the hdd and reinstall then upgrade, much cleaner or just install win8 as there plenty of guides on how to

Thanks for the info mate but should have said that my current set up is getting passed along to my folks for them to use and only thing am keeping is the 22" Samsung monitor thats why a was looking for a ready made system... A see where your going with a build it myself build but really just after a plug n play system that all av to do is plug monitor into and away a go :) what would be my best option from the systems already on sale here? Am not keen on building my own unit so thats not really an option mate.... Am guessing a system on here would be much better than am currently running as thats about 5 yrs old lol

yours maybe faster for gaming in the short term, the i5 would be a better long term build once a card is added, the amd is in some ways faster than the i3 but as it only has onboard atm but has a good chip saying that the trinity and onboard vga are both low end of the line so i'd go for the i3, you can always change / upgrade later to a i5 as at least it's got a good mid range gaming card for now, good find, wish i'd gone for that now, you did better on your own it seemed :(

Yeah your rite about the i5 build for kind of future proofing if a want to change things around.... How would that one a found stack up against my old system? Are we talking slight difference for gaming or not to noticable? When a bought my original system it cost around £1200 so just shows how fast things move along in pc land haha

the core duo for it's time was a good chip, i had the Wolfdale 3.5 GHz in my old gaming rig and only updated it to a i7 as the i5 i had tried and amd 6200 didn't give enough of a speed jump i was hopping for, so it all depends on what games you play and with what vga card etc, but any will be better, if not for the better design of m/b - memory etc

just getting off vista and onto a 64bit o/s you will be better, more ram etc

vista was ok for some in it's day, but xp was so much better, windows 7 was very good to use for gaming and still is, windows 8 is more of a side step for most, slightly faster than win 7 for games, better dx version slightly and better use of sdd and ram etc, but interface is crap, works ok when tweeked, but then again they all do, that's windows for you

and your welcome

well tbh I think zakblood has nailed it. AS much as an intel fan I am AMD gives a lot of bang for buck at the moment. Allthough I would try and squeeze an SSD into the config. It's teh single biggest improvement you'll notice no matter whether you choose AMD or Intel.

If these specs aren't up to your requirements you can speak to sales and configure one or you can use our system configuration online.
