Pre install - BIOS

Hey all

Quick question before I start installing Windows on my Samsung 830.

Got the GA-Z77-D3H mobo. Gone and changed the sata mode selection to AHCI from IDE. Do I need to enable intel rapid start technology? By default it's disabled.

rapid start is for caching with the ssd,if you want to install your os onto the ssd you dont need to enable it,just set sata port to ahci mode before windows install

When you first install Windows, you'll be using the MS drivers (msahci). Do a few benchmarks, then install the Intel RST (iaStor), and benchmark again.

I found that the iaStor increased read speeds on my 256gb 830 (but reduced write speeds), so stuck with them as read is more important than write (generally speaking). Suck it and see.
