Does anyone have a guide on what to check on a car pre MOT time - i'm not 100% sure it will pass as its damn old, but anything i can do to get it through would be great - so a check list and basic guide on what to look for would be a bonus :)

cheers
Sam

Kick the tyres, push the bonnet down over the wheels a few times to make sure the shocks aren't 'shot', stand around it smoking for five minutes then declare it safe.

tyres, brakes, lights, exhaust, seatblets, boy work condition, suspension, windscreen wipers and any cracks.

you forgot suck air through your teeth and shake your head, before pretending to change 4 sets of pads for £300. Tell the owner that the tyres should pass but he'd recomend changing them anyway.

Just take it somewhere that does a Free retest.
No matter what happens or what car this is Always what i do.
After the M.O.T you just do what's on the list. This way you don't waste no time or money repairing or checking anything except what is needed.

Whilst a good idea, I'm not sure there's still many places that do this. I've got to put my Manta through an MOT in the next week or so, so if anyone know sof any where that does do this it'd be useful to know.

There's a list of things to check before an MOT here btw.
