Tbh i think you were just lucky, i'll put some pics up soon, if you were to see the components and the build quality of the internals you'd be surprised that the their still working at all, The components really are sub standard, for literally a few pence they could have used good quality pots, the soldering is appalling.

Saitek don't have the best reputation for quality control, software or customer service; CH kit does seem to get better reviews from its users. You're better off saving up for a Thrustmaster HOTAS imho; it'll be cheaper in the long run ;)

Fortunately OcUK has got you covered either way.

CH is more reliable than TM and better for a miles more varied list of titles than DCS.

Ch gear is just built to last , My friend woody and i visited the factory, the problem is that their gaming joystick range is about 0.5% of the company and they have no real interest in the product , its made of what is basically leftover parts from military and industrial products, the manager said they have no interest in updating the product and would be happy to sell it on.

Thrust master on the other hand don't quite have the outright ruggedness of Ch but i can tell you from first hand experience that the Warthog is by no means poorly made, however it helps to be an enthusiast to get the most out of it and keeping it in tip top working condition, such as keeping it greased and clean and every component is replaceable.

No sign of Star Citizen branded model :( ???

According to CIG (developers of Star Citizen) they are waiting for a final product sample from Saitek. They also stated that the Star Citizen Sticks are not the same as the X-56 (despite looking very similar on face value)

That information is from about 2 months ago.

I'm not sure they have even said whether they are going to sell it through distributors like OCUK.

Interesting and explains why their stuff seemed to not exist in the UK a little while ago unless you looked really hard.

The TM forum scares me with all the dead throttle stories and it's just not flexible enough for what I want...and I only want one HOTAS?

I very much doubt the build quality has improved since the X55 which I bought for far less money and even for that it wasn't great. Throttle was ridiculous with one side being ridiculously tight and the whole thing squeaking and feeling like it could break any minute in your hand. At this money you may as well stretch a bit more and get the Warthog

Look at the throttle here ... pretty much unusable unless bolted down to the desk and you fancy a good arm workout...
