They did used to refer to the engine size as far as I was aware, i'm sure changes in legislation gave arise to increased capacities, but BMW wanted to keep the naming convention the same.

thepharcyde said:fit a cd changer.
Nice car btw, I know the excitement of picking a new car up, I picked up my 3 series BM on saturday
mrk said:the 318 dash looks fine with a aftermarket plus no cd changer on it will play mp3 discs. I get ~6 cds worth of music on one cd this way not only that but the improvement in sound quality from the stock tape unit. The speakers are pretty good too only let down by the naff stock headunit.
thepharcyde said:I beg to differ, my E46 dash is complemented by a stock cd player, fitting a aftermarket messes with the lines.
mrk said:It really depends on the look of the HU you're fitting, you do realise not all aftermarket ones look the same, right
rG-tom said:nice car but i do have to wonder why anyone would buy a 4 pot BM Surely it struggles to shift itself?
Tom.
thepharcyde said:I purchased an I-Trip, which is the best of both worlds, my experience so far is very good, a slight crackly here and there but in all very good.

Adz said:I don't really see that it's 'slow'. Compared to other, faster BMWs maybe but if you compare it to other cars in its class it's got reasonable performance. Certainly a big step up from a Civic.
Congrats .
mrk said:Have you driven one? it will certainly do me (considering the civic does me fine around town and B roads here) for a few years before upgrading to a sportier BM - Not very logical ya see to just look at figures and go "yep, that's too slow!"
