I've raised a support ticket via the website as well but i'm wondering if any of you can help as I am not expecting a response until tomorrow.

I've received a prebuilt system that should be overclocked to 4GHz.

When in the BIOS it's displaying as 4GHz, but when I get to Windows and open System Properties it's reading "i7 950 3.07GHz 2.66GHz".

Any ideas?
 
Ignore that reading, it's wrong. Use a program like RealTemp to see the clock speed and multiplier. Also remember that you'll need to be doing something intense like a stress test to see the CPU at full speed if you have SpeedStep activated.
 
As above, put it under stress with something like prime95, use cpuz to check clockspeed. If it doesnt read as 4ghz, you may have to go into bios and load the ocuk overclocked profile.
 
Thanks guys I just checked the BIOS again and noticed the name of the same reading 3.07GHz still, but the clock speed being correct at 4GHZ.
 
The cpu is internally labeled with it's stock speeds. It's just a label which can't be changed and doesn't do anything.

Yours will always say "i7 950@ 3.07ghz".... my i5 always says @2.66ghz, even though it's clocked to 3.9. Windows isn't checking the speed, it's just reading directly off the label. Install something like cpu-z and that will actually check the speed, and display what it's actually running at.
