i recently bought a pre built from overclockers with a i5 9400f with stock cooler and a 1660 super and am getting extremely high cpu temps when gaming varying on the game it can get up to 85-95 i have tried changing the cpu cooler speed and have had no luck

Stock coolers are ok at best is it clean ?

Yes it should be as the pc is just over a week old

Intel run hot a decent aftermarket cooler would be far better but if its only a week old and you have concerns contact Overclockers.

You would get a 20C drop by switching to an aftermarket cooler also bear in mind we are in a heatwave right now so that's probably not helping things.

I have contacted them but was told “thats what i would expect with a stock cooler running over a long period of time” but i get those temps with less than 30 mins of playing

get a £20 cooler with a big fan on it and temps will shoot down.

What case do you have so we can recommend a cpu cooler.

Are you comfortable fitting a cooler ?
