I don't understand why anyone uses Internet Explorer when it seems so slow and bloated compared to Firefox and Chrome. That said, I believe IE has been hugely improved recently so it may well be a serious consideratoins again. But anyway, for the purpose of this question, and I know there's others out there, out of Firefox and Chrome which do you prefer, and why?

Chrome was my choice because of the sign in and everything syncs together.
Firefox has this feature now and I like firefox.

I use Chrome for my "personal" stuff and Firefox for my "work" browser.

So technically....both simultaneously.

I tend to stick with one till it annoys me.

Was using FF for years until it felt like a bloated mess so switched to Chrome.

I might go back if Chrome starts annoying me.

palemoon... I don't like the look of chromefox or chrome, they both seem like a step backwards in usability.... so palemoon gives me 'firefox' as it used to be :)

ive slowly stopped using chrome certain things don't seem to work on it - like I cant log in with student finance sometimes or check my uni email for some reason (outlook set up) - ive slowly started using IE - haven't had too much to complain about...

Ie, it's absolutely fine these days and not as bad as Firefox that went down hill over the last few years, never got on with chrome.

Maybe it depends on how many tabs you have open because I have never found ie slow, doing tests on my own pc, chrome or ff didn't look any faster.
Ie works with all the sites I use the others don't

It's still a grandma browser. It would be nice if Microsoft would fix vulnerabilities in a shorter amount of time and add features such as extensions and proper plug-in management (disable plug-in X if it is vulnerable, etc).

I use Chrome because it has tab syncing, bundled flash & advanced plug-in control. The app store is the icing on the cake.

firefox for me. admittedly i don't customise it as much as i used to to but at least the option is there should i feel the need. also, the addons are better than what you get for other browsers. admittedly i haven't tried chrome in a long time so they might have caught up but i really can't be bothered to test. if it ain't broke.....

I use IE, Waterfox and Chrome pretty much simultaneously. Waterfox is my favourite though and is the one I use mostly.

Chrome, just because of the syncing.

Although for work some apps/ intranet sites has to be done via IE.

Prefer firefox but kind of disappointed how bloaty its been getting.

The thing for me is security (caveat I've not used chrome that actively to know if it has changed) - chrome was often banded about as having great security but it was very reactive security sure flaws/exploits would get fixed very quickly but it was after they were discovered whereas with FF they took steps to try and prevent security issues in the first place and minimising the damage if they did happen.

Now I've just got in the habit of using FF and stuck with it.

My thoughts exactly, and who ever implemented the awesome bar without a massive warning message to all male pc users deserves to be fired lol

I hate Chrome,Firefox for me due to customisation and no issues,I was an old Opera 12 fan until they released their new Chromium based Opera 15 (now up to 20) which is a disaster IMHO,very few customisations.

Also Chrome can't do simple customisation for things I prefer like tabs at bottom(just above taskbar) like the old Opera and FF can do.

Depends on what resolution, at 3840x2160 Chrome's font rendering looks terrible and no matter how I much try there's not fix for it. So at present It's IE and then Firefox, both have pin sharp fonts at 4k.

used to use ie all the time, but i've moved to opera recently and i kinda like it. firefox/chrome seem almost worse for speed and usability over ie [or at least no worthy improvement] but i've found opera to be noticeable faster and nicer to use.

personal preference though, thats just my experience doesn't mean others will agree

Happy with either Chrome or Firefox, but having used Firefox for years I moved to Chrome a couple of years back. They both have advantages and disadvantages, and I tend to use both for different tasks, but Chrome is my standard browser. Firefox would still be if the start up speed was better (particularly when updates are being applied) and I could stop extensions from opening tabs with pointless information when they're updating (that really winds me up).

I'd be perfectly happy with IE11 speed wise, but it's sorely lacking in features - even the basics such as "paste and go", and the extension model is somewhere between awkward and non-existent.

Do you use non standard display scaling? Some apps don't play well with windows 8 scaling, have you tried turning it off? You can turn it off per-app in the compatibility tab (right click app > properties)
