Prelude 2.2vtec any good?

If insurance was lower for me I would be going to see this. I hate my age; I get silly premiums, can't go on certain trackdays, and can't ride motorbikes. Can't wait till I am 21.

BB1 = 4th gen UKDM/JDM 2.2 VTEC, with 4WS and sunroof.
BB4 = 4th gen JDM 2.2 VTEC, with no 4WS, and optional sunroof.

Not too sure on the 5th gen chassis codes though! ;)

Currently driving my mums 2.0i prelude, nice car, handles very well and its a nice ride. decent power and looks.

I wouldnt mind going for a drive in the 2.2vtec, bloke down the road has one and i may just have to go and bother him for a ride :D

You get a few people say "OMG 4WS IS SO BAD!!" if/when they have a problem, but the reality I've found on PreludeUK is that there are actually very few problems with it!

Of course it adds some weight (which is why people say get the ones without), but I have had to drive a 2WS car for the last few months, and it's such a difference that 4WS makes, I can't wait to get mine back on the road!

Yeah and mostly it's just a brake sensor thats gummed up, which flags an ABS fault and at same time flags a 4WS fault.

I liked it, don't think it makes a lot of difference in performance / weight terms but is nice to have when parking.

I miss mine, the engine and chassis were a real performers and then you have the whole comfy coupe thing when you want to switch off and cruise!

I'd have 2WS and LSD over 4WS any day... but then I can park :p ;) Both the 4th and 5th gen vtecs are great cars. I do like the 5th gen but I love the 4th gen - personal preference. *loves my BB4* :D

Hate said:
its not *that* comfortable, my celica is definately moreso.

What I mean them is that the ride is more coupe than sports car, same with the steering. My Prelude was definitly not as sharp and pointy as my MG now but far better for the motorway and longer distances

I bought a 4th gen JDM 2WS a few weeks ago (after selling my CTR) & i absolutely love it , great power ,handling & driving position . Get one , you wont regret it , i don't (so far) . :)

My old dear of a few years back, UK car bought from my boss with 82k, sold it after 3 years with 140k, failures in that time were :-

clutch [original one],
niggly 4ws tripping out [remove fuse to reset],
aircon recharge [not technically a failure]
and a front wheel abs sensor in the week before I sold it

mods were a remap [supposedly 8-10 hp], induction kit and a sports exhaust which was a waste of time tbh, could keep up with ATR and EP3's at the time and handled beutifully with the 17" Momos

just ordered a new Civic Type R based upon the memories it brought back to me of my old car
