Big Sam confirmed. What a nice little pay cheque he will get after four games. 0 points I reckon.
Sod the pay check, he just wants a years supply of Fray Bentos pies.

It will be interesting to see what the reaction is from the players, I think there’ll be a few draws.

He likes to park the bus. Do Leeds even have something to park? Their defence (like ours) is rather leaky. Their matches too: Man City, West Ham, Newcastle, Spurs. Eeek!!! On current form 2 of those are likely to be losses. Whether West Ham and Spurs turn up for the other two remains to be seen.

He must be laughing though. Name your price, team probably already going down with rock hard matches coming, so no dent to reputation if they do drop under him. It'll be his easiest pay cheque in ages surely as the outcome doesn't really matter. He could give them wacky tactics for a laugh and not get any blame.

Christ...Haven't watched the fully interview but this snippet was some dour viewing...

Allardyce:
I might be 68 and look old and antiquated but there's nobody ahead of me in football terms. Not Pep, not Klopp, not Arteta. It's all there with me. They do what they do and I do what I do.

Anyone remember the John Carver interview?

Anyone remember the John Carver interview?
I do - at least the Carver claim had some strength of conviction (however misplaced) behind it. Allardyce came across as sad and upset to me... the bit about his chances are over etc and this is what he's got now.

Football tends to love stories like Big Sam keeping Leeds up, bit late in the day but ya never know...

I think sam gets unfair stick as a boring manager

He’s gone into teams to keep then up and ends up playing boring football to get results to keep them up

I dont think anyone would ever call his bolton team boring?? They played attacking entertaining football you cant expect him to be an exciting manager when he’s utilised to keep a team up and is restricted by the talent available

Arend Martijn Slot (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑrnə ˈslɔt]; born 17 September 1978) is a Dutch professional football coach and former player who is the manager of Feyenoord, who he led to winning the Eredivisie title in the 2022-23 season.

Playing career

Slot played as midfielder for PEC Zwolle, NAC Breda and Sparta Rotterdam.

Coaching career

Slot began his coaching career in 2013, working as a youth coach at PEC Zwolle for a year, before being appointed as an assistant coach at Cambuur, a position he held until 2017.

AZ

Slot was hired by AZ as an assistant to John van den Brom, before being promoted to head coach in 2019.[1] In his first season in charge, the Eredivisie was cancelled midway due to the COVID-19 pandemic. AZ came in second based on goal difference, although no winner was determined. On December 5, 2020, he was sacked as head coach of AZ for not being focused on the team, having recently negotiated a deal with Feyenoord, despite earning 2.11 points per game in the Eredivisie, the highest of any AZ-coach in history.[2]

Feyenoord

On 15 December 2020, Feyenoord announced that the club had reached a deal with Slot for him to become the club's new coach from the start of the 2021–22 season in Eredivisie. The deal would see Slot sign for two years, with Feyenoord having the option to extend his contract for a third year. At Feyenoord, Slot succeeded the experienced Dick Advocaat, who led the team to a fifth place in the Eredivisie and qualification to the UEFA Conference League Qualifiers. Slot was appointed to build a new team with a recognisable playing style. Marino Pusic was appointed as his first assistant coach, while John de Wolf was retained as second assistant coach. Robin van Persie was added to his staff as a field coach. During his first season as coach, Feyenoord finished third in the Eredivisie, behind Ajax and PSV. In the Europa Conference League Feyenoord reached the final, the club's first European final since 2002.[3] At the end of the season, Slot was awarded the Rinus Michels Award for the Eredivisie Manager of the Year.[4][5]

In his second season as coach, Feyenoord won the league, the club's first league title since 2017 and sixteenth in the club's history.[6]

I'm sure he was linked with a top job in the UK in the last season or two. Doing good things with Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar previously.
