Hi all,

I bought my pc from OCUK a while back (probably about 6 months) and after a minor problem which was fixed, I have been running my computer flawlessly with 2 x 9800 GTX KO graphics cards.

However just in the last few days I have gained the following problems - linked? I dont know???

First Abnormality:

A popup from NVidia stating that my system has turned its graphics cards down because of insufficient power to run the cards properly?

Problem 2: Last night, I closed a MSN box and my comp randomly crashed. When I restarted, the computer was that slow that it tried to load windows, goto the login box and when I typed password, it took about 5 minutes and blue errored.

Blue Error said it had to close because of "atkdisp"

Problem 3: I switched comp on today and everything worked fine for about 2 hours, then alas.... Computer went really slow, I kept getting a warning bing, and I had 2 popups visible saying "rundll32" and the box had no description but an OK button - that I could not click as the comp was so slow.

Upon restarting comp I had a slow comp and the blue error message returned.

I have just opened up the case and dusted the insides using a rocket blower (used for expensive cameras to clear dust off the lenses). I blew it inbetween graphics cards, on top of them to get rid of any settled dust, inside the holes of the PSU, and in the processor fins, along with any filters that had clogged up with dust.

So far no more problems but only had comp on for about 10 mins... Anyone had these symptoms or know anything about it?

Thanks!

Hi sounds like a psu problem or 1 of the gfx cards is'nt working right ,what psu do you have ? have you tried running with just 1 gfx card in to see if the problem still persists , try 1 card then the other to see if it is any of them.

hi,

Windows XP

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)

Not sure what PSU it was as the product is no longer available on the website.. however I do know it is a 600W PSU

The system purchased was "Ultima OC 8800GTS SLI" Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz @ 3.00GHz+ Quad Core DDR2 System

Upon restarting, no more problems as of yet..

Does anyone know of some software I can use to monitor the Graphics card temperature on system?

I have smart doctor installed, but disabled from start up - and when I try and load it, it states it cannot finds graphics card info.

Any alternate program would be great so I can see if the card/s are over heating?

Hi,

I checked the temps... 1 card is running at 62C and 1 at 67C - this is when im NOT in a game, about to test that next.

Seems a bit high, how can I increase the fan speed on graphics cards? They go fast when I turn on but as soon as comp posts it turns down. Old cards (8800's had a program - smart doctor i think, that allowed me to modify fan speed but this card doesnt?)

thanks phillip J Fry :P

After cleaning comp out ive not had any problems return, neither have I had any more problems with video card power. I also disabled "sysdll32.exe" from startup in MSCONFIG as I fear this may be a virus.

If the problem returns, ill follow that link and follow instructions given.

Thanks for your time!

It was probably overheating. With regards to viruses make sure you check your computer with either NOD32 or Kasperspy (free trials available) or Avast or Avira. If you are using AVG then it is less likely to pick these viruses up.

Also might be a good idea to run memtest86 on that memory, just in case...
