At work we have a large screen which my manager wants to use to advertise monthly offers, he has given me a a very basic pc with which to complete this task and has asked me to install some software.

I had a play with DSL and it runs fine, but the PC is not capable of running Open Office according to the specs. Is there any other options for powerpoint .PPT viewing software, it is not necessary to edit the presentation from this pc as we have other computers with windows and office licenses.

Another option would be to save the powerpoint file under another file type. Any ideas greatly appreciated but there are a number of restrictions which I can't be bothered to explain at this stage :p

use open office on another pc and export the ppt as a swf - install swf on dsl if it's not included, open swf file with browser :)

That could actually work. Can you output to swf straight from power point? I expect you can make the browser full screen to get a decent view.

Thanks.

I tried saving as a flash file but it doesn't display the animations or work on a timer so not really appropriate. Does anyone know of a lightweight powerpoint viewer for linux?
