President of Afghanistan: Rape is Ok as Long as it’s Your Wife

Not only that, but now that these medieval ****ers have gotten Pakistan to give in to Sharia law in the Swat region, they took no time in dealing out a public flogging to a 17 year old girl who they accuse of adultery.

So was there an actual law that said 'It is legal to rape your wife'?
Or was it a case that there wasn't a law to say you couldn't which are two massively different things.

Pity you didn’t look it up yourself:

The marital rape exemption was abolished in England and Wales in 1991 by the House of Lords, in its judicial capacity, in the case of R v R [1992] 1 AC 599. The exemption had never been a rule of statute, having first been promulgated in 1736 in Hale’s History of the Pleas of the Crown.

The law at the time said a woman has a right to say no up until the point of intercourse. Something would therefore have had to define or exclude marital rape. Might have been common law though.

Agreed, went on a 18 day world tour as a group which included a quick visit to the Himalays in late 2000. The Pakistani people are as democratised and western as ourselves, and their capital city is quite modern. It disappoints me that this Taliban scum is trying to take over by force by overwhelming armament and determination.
