Pressed plates fitting

Tesla come with metal plates... I appreciate what the BS guideline says but there must be a reason why Tesla are allowed to deliver cars to the UK with these on.

Harley's come with Screaming Eagle exhausts much above the noise regulations. I was told it was because the US doesn't have to follow the EU regulations, not sure if that is the same.

Pedestrian safety is the reason they arent allowed anymore. You arent allowed metal parts on the bumper.
Do you ever NOT spout total BS?

Other than the UK and France, I don’t know of any other EU country which issues plastic number plates.

Why do you think metal bumpers, mounts and ornaments had to be removed? Also glass and popup headlights..

The first item on the list of rules on the uk gov website is that "the number plate must be made from a reflective material". So I guess unless the metal plate is painted in reflective paint, metal plats are illegal.

Tbh they're not my cup of tea but if the characters and font etc. is all legal I don't expect the cops will be too worried. What does bother me is when people with a vw golf get a "D" logo put on the side of a metal reg plate to somehow imply their right hand drive uk registered car is german. These people should have their cars crushed.

Honestly does it just pour out of you uncontrollably? You are the archetypal "bloke in the pub", churning out tosh 24/7.

And Belgian, Austrian, Swiss, French, in fact metal plates are commonplace across Europe.
France uses plastic plates too now.
But like I said above, I can’t think of another country in Europe that does. Perhaps even in the world??

Nothing mentions you can't have metal plates.

Further checks on bs au 145d (and upcoming 'e' revision) show the same but there is a bending test mentioned here:
https://www.bnma.org/research-and-t...plates-bs-au-145d/resistance-to-bending-test/

Seems to me that any rudementary reinforcement of the metal plate would suffice to pass the bending test (couldn't find actual specs only what the bnma say they do). I'm sure a bit more googling would turn up the spec or someone here has access to it.

First point fails them. Must be made of a reflective material. One of the standards expands to state reflex-reflecting which pressed metals aren't.
