Pressed plates or whatever...

Theyre ridiculously expensive, definitely not cheaper. They're "cool" and normally a "scene" thing, especially with knackered old VWs it seems.

Pressed plates used to be pretty common in the UK, along with flat metal plates with raised plastic lettering.

Pressed plates are 'proper' plates. All these new ones are plastic because they are cheaper to make etc.

Pressed plates do look better in my opinion

I must be 'uncool' then.

I don't get them at all, the nicest plate in my opinion is a standard reflective one, nice and plain with the reg only.

Looking at Volkswagen's with them, even they don't suit.

This. Pressed plates are a period thing, belonging to cars from the correct era. They just look stupid on new metal IMO.

Not at all, most other countries use pressed metal plates and they appear just fine.

I'm not really a fan, over here it's one of those mods done just for the sake of modifying. I find it hard to get on board with that kind of thing.

We're not in most other countries though. I agree that if they're meant to be like that then it's fine, but replacing perfectly functional plates with something else "because cool" just makes you look a bit silly IMO.
