Pressure Washer, advice needed!

The problem with these cheap pressure washers is that the head is made of aluminium and water eats aluminium over time. You use it once, store it away and when you use it again the unloader valve is stuck because the water has corroded the pump head. Won't last 5 mins in high limescale areas either.

We used to use concrete cleaner as a limescale remover in the big industrial washers. Put an ally head in the cleaner overnight and it would be like putty in the morning.

So avoid ally heads and buy brass.

If you buy one with an detergent dispensor you can, although you may wish to water it down a bit.. My Karcher came with a detergent dispenser, and I used the karcher stuff for it, but when it ran out, I diluted some turlte wax car shampoo and this seems to work ok..

I personally think the best way is to just use a sponge for the main car, pressure washers don't dislodge the road grime so easily, if you just use the pressure washer, then let it dry, just see how much crap is left..

I've got the std brush attachment, and the rotary powerd brush, and the better lance, and it still leaves plenty behind, a sponge and a wheel brush seem to work best..

You shouldn't tackle the dirty on your car with just a pressure washer.

I spray mine to get the dirt off, then use a foam brush on all the panels, then spray again :)

Yea, I spray mine to get it all wet then wash it by hand then use the karcher to rinse it off.

It's great at getting in the small places around trim and badges getting all the mould and rubbish out and did i mention its good for alloys :p

Can't remember the model of mine. I have to clean an oil patch on the drive so will have a look at the model number when I do that tomorrow (as long as it's not freezing cold like today!)

I got the uber cheap Karcher one.

Does its job pretty well, packs a punnch for such a small yellow box. I dont feel it cleans the car very well though, bucket and sponge then use then use the pressure washer to rinse the car off.
