Pressure washer spec me

My Nilfisk P150.2 is over 10 years old now. Put a new longer hose on and replaced the reel handle. Rock solid and a really well established parts availability.

Well worth the money!

I spied your mention of drawing water from a container, this isnt going to work on a high pressure machine, they require high flow rates. Even using some auto stop hose fittings restrict flow and seriously affect performance or result in the pump being starved.

I dont think these units are designed for drawing non pressurised sources.

Good to hear about your experience with Nilfisk, currently I'm erring on going for the P200.

I think most of the high end ones do just fine pull water from receptacles though. Some pumps do better if they're at least a little higher or level with the machine, however some of the Kranzles even have a reading for suction height, going up to 2.5m.

The Nilfisk P200 has a section in the manual on receiving water from a container. Looks like it can be up to 0.5m above the container, which is pretty darn good.

Yeah, they do recommend having a water filter on the hose taking the water in, then another water filter at the entry point to the machine.

That's the only thing I'm a little worried about using my existing water butts. Might have to actually empty them and give them a power was out before I'd be too comfortable using whatever whatever bits have accumulated in them the last few years! But then, where do I get a water source to clean out my water source?? :D

Some people on youtube even add a much larger inline water filter on the hose with a large plastic cage the side of a mug to filter stuff.

I read in my research about some people with new Avas having leaks after not draining their kit properly and storing them in normal sheds that get below freezing over the winter, this resulted in the plastic stubby gun cracking.

I think if I go high end I might have to actually find somewhere indoors to store this thing!

Ah fair! My P150.2 doesn't have any mention of it in manual and specifically requires a hose connection. Seems the newer stuff/other models supports it!
surprised me, I think they all support water from a container ... seems you can even attach older karchers, like I have, to buckets V
it's the initial priming bit to get the pump full of water that is the issue.

Kärcher 26431000 5 m Suction Hose and Filter for Pressure Washer Accessory, White, Yellow

This is what i figured out that works 100% every time i do it!. The main reason this WILL NOT prime properly is the filter on the end is restricting the flow of the water!. IMO to start off the machine needs maximum water flow to enter the pump to then build up pressure which in turn starts the "sucking" process!.

What i do is....................

1. Take off the filter on the end of the hose(give a small twist and it comes of easy)
2. Place all the hose in the water to prime it as normal
3. Wait for the hose to fill with water, as seen by the air bubbles escaping(Because the filter is off, the water flow in the hose is A LOT better)
4. When done connect to the machine
5. Turn on and press the trigger on the gun
6. Again because the filter is off you will see the water being sucked into the machine faster and it will build up pressure
7. Reattach the filter and you are good to go!

My heating boiler is in the garage so built a cupboard round it - This is where I store my pressure washer.

The feed to outside tap was 6" from side of boiler and it froze up one winter. All good now.

Picked up an Ava P70 in the end as I couldn't find a good deal on the Nilfisk P200 or Ava P80.

Loving the long 8m hose. It meant I could get the hose onto the flat roof of the extension and blast away a couple of decades of moss!

Also please send help, the ladder fell :o

Nilfisk C120 would do the job you need just fine.

My C110 is still going strong 7 years later. Weekly car washes plus a drive clean that came up as good as a professional wash and patio cleans. It was even frozen and then fine last week. I’d struggle to buy anything else.
