Prestige Car Servicing

I think with that company you are paying a premium for a car wash and some herbert driving your car to and from the garage.

Save the money and get it done at the main dealer.

Erm National's loss leader aside you cannot even buy the oil required for an oil service, trade, for 35 quid let alone perform the work.

Eh?

Are you implying that a garage would be unable to buy a sump worth of oil on an 'average' car at trade price for £35?

When i did my Ibizas service there it cost me 35, same for my Focus years before. Obviously it might be more for this car. Going to know in a few weeks when i do carry it for general service.

No, I am implying that a garage would not be able to buy 6.5 litres of Castrol SLX/Mobil 1 SuperSyn LL04 approved oil to complete the Oil Service on a BMW 3 Series (ie the random car for which we are comparing Prestige Car Servicings pricing against a Main Dealer for) for £35.

Wow, that was nice considering how many of your questions I answer politely. I'll bear that in mind next time you want to know something. How was that called for?

Its a joke mate, you do come across a bit like that at times though ;) I know your intentions are good in the end.

The point is, I am asking for opinions of people that have used them, have you used them?

If not, then your opinion is invalid.

Understand?
You think that you have a say in who gives their opinion on a forum? Have you used the internet before?

On topic - My work colleague has used them. He thought it was worth the extra cash to have it collected so he didnt have to fuss with courtesy cars. They serviced his car with budget oil and a pattern filter and it hasn't blown up, what else is there to know about an oil service? Are you expecting someone to praise you on what a good find it is and that it's the future of servicing? Or were you hoping someone would gush about their attention to detail and had their keyring polished free of charge?

Nobody at all mentioned a 3 Series previously, let alone a specific brand of oil? And of course you are not going to get approved BMW oil in the service on the £35 deal, in fact I'd be very surprised if you'd get a sump full of approved oil anywhere other than a BMW main dealer so the very best independents. Most places bung in whatever comes out of the drum marked '10W/40' in the corner.

to be fair, outside of GD, none of the other forums work like motors does.

You post "what do you think of x"

and you dont get a debate of why you need x, or whether you atcually need Z instead, people just go yeah x is good, x isnt good, x is good, x is good etc.. and just repeat each other.

Those sorts of threads are all over the hardware forums, and usually involve very little debate, just a sucession of pople saying "yeah its good"

He's come into motors expecting the same, and got the hump because rather than have a sucession of pople say "ive been there, they're good" he sparked a debate as to what value for money they offeretc.. hence the hissy fit that nobody who hasnt been there should be allowed to post in this thread.

This is one of the things I like most about motors to be fair, although sometimes I admit it can also be a bit annoying. Depends what answers you are seeking I guess, if you are seeking any at all.

My next service is an Inspection II, so obviously I've been looking around at prices so I know what to pay when the time comes. I suspect the OP is of a similar mindset

Sorry, bit O/T, but what's the best quote you've got for an Inspection II? I managed to get Cooper BMW down to £311 inc everything + 45 (?) for brake fluid.

But my local specialist (Warne Motors Bury in Bury St Edmunds) will do it for £240 or £265 using genuine BMW parts where avaliable + £30 for brake fluid. I would like a main dealer stamp, but tbh, it isn't worth the extra 80 quid. Plus i trust the specialist much more than the dealer.

You do with national's oil change offer. Not that anybody has actually got them to do the work as yet though :p

its PJS - purchase justification syndrome

he already made his mind up he wants to go there. Hence why he doesnt want to hear people telling him they arent cheap.

He just wants to be told "oh yeah the're amazing, ive been loads of times" to justify his decision to go there.
