Price increases

Been observing the prices of AMD gfx cards increasing steadily over the last few weeks.

On some sites, the price of 7850s has gone up £20! Obviously can't say which ones.

On OcUK, prices have gone up £5 in the last few days. Cheapest 7580 is £170 atm, which is a little on the high side for a mid-range card.

So I'm thinking, we're too far from Christmas for the usual holiday price rises, surely. There hasn't been a big release like Crysis 3 to cause a spike in demand...

So why are gfx cards getting dearer all of sudden now?

Everything continues to get dearer. Freddo's are 20 ******* pence now. I remember when they were 10

When things get £5 - £20 dearer over the course of a few weeks, that's not inflation at work :p

It is, just on a shorter timescale. If prices have increased everywhere then there is a cause. Unless 8 series is on the verge of release and they want as much as possible for their 7 series cards before launch.

Havn't you noticed in the uk when something is discounted or reduced in price due to cheaper costs it doesn't last very long and the price very quickly climbs back to and beyond the original price. Not that long ago petrol came down to 124.9p(due to lower wholesale price)but very quickly climbed back to 139.9. No doubt somone will be along shortly to blame the pound/dollar thing.:(

They have just settled back down that's all, NVIDIA were releasing new cards so the initial price slash by AMD got them to increase their sales before the NVIDIA cards hit the shelves - even though the NVIDIA equivalents don't compare all to well, apart from maybe the 660.

Ati seriously need to be hard at work at the moment to sort their drivers let alone prices, they are starting to get that bad driver reputation again I am thinking of jumping ship.

Had nothing but trouble with 12.6 12.8 and 12.9 betas mainly random hard locks (yet I am uengine and furmark stable and IBt stable) also they still haven't even fixed the damn driver reset bugs normally happens at 0:00 or 01:00.

Not to even mention the firefox bugs related to the drivers which is taking them forever to fix.

It's unlikely that AMD would increase their prices after announcing price cuts.

I'm sure these recent price increases are retailer price increases, not caused by AMD, simply retailers looking to increase their profits. Or there is some other reason.
