Prices going up or down?

I'm in the market to buy an i7 or i5 set up and although not in a particular hurry as i'm not actually in a position to build the rig up at present, i'm wondering whether it's best to buy now or to wait.

usually the answer would be simple. If you don't need to buy now then wait as components always fall in price.

However we are not in "normal" times.

VAT is due to go back up to 17.5% in Jan and the pound is all over the place but generally plummeting against other currencies

So perhaps buy now before it all gets too expensive?

All thoughts appreciated.

I don't think it will change a huge amount either way. May as well just buy now if you are ready, else something new will come out but be more expensive and the cycle continues

Well vat is going up next year so the prices will go up..

I'm undertaking a mod/build which will then be sold on so it's quite important I buy at a good time. The spec will probably be similar to the sig, but with the inclusion of more current graphics. and perhaps i5 not i7
