You do not get everything with Prime, you can select the section "Included with Prime" so you do not end up paying.

P.S type on a PC not a phone or lay of the sauce. ;)

Overall we enjoy the whole experience of Prime. I can't say it has improved any but I always seem to struggle with the UI compared to Netflix. Also we have ended up watching shows, IIRC The Boys were one example, where several episodes were watched in 1080p as we couldn't find the 4k ones or perhaps didn't realise at the start that they were also available in 4k.
I don't like how they seem to mix the ones that you have to pay extra for within the Prime offerings as well. At first we thought, similar to Netflix, tha twhat you can see to watch is all included in the annual Prime subs, how wrong we were.

You pay for an Amazon device plus and Amazon subscription and they shove Howells down your throat. Not for me at all, just don't agree with it. Plus their UI is awful along with their website. I'll just pay postage and use Netflix, it's good enough for us.

When was that then as I've been a subscriber since virtually launch day and never seen anything to rent as everything was available from the get go?

There's always been a Rent/Purchase section in Prime - since launch day. I imagine they only get a small amount of sales that way, but a sale is a sale.

They did add in an option not long after release to filter content by only prime/"free to me", so that everything on display could be watched without paying a fee.

Normally the rent stuff are brand new blockbuster titles.

Its fairly straight forward, its the same as Sky...on Sky you get free films on Sky Cinema and films that you pay for on Sky Store. Prime is exactly the same.

I'll admit the adverts can get rather annoying, especially if you're binging stuff - the last thing you want is to see the same advert at the start of every episode you're watching.

Some trailers have caught my eye though and has given me something additional to watch. I would prefer no trailers though.

Of that I am aware, however my reply was to JohnG7 who was saying Netflix had stuff on to rent.

I moved to Prime as I was a Screen Select subscriber (which changed to LoveFilm which then went to Amazon hence the Prime subscription) and it has always had stuff to rent as well as stuff included with Prime and you have always been able to search via the included option so pay stuff doesn't show.

At least in the UK Netflix never had rent/buy options between 2012 and 2018. There used to be a similar service I'm completely coming up with a blank of the name on for some reason which did have a rental/purchase section but they no longer exist - I used to use them before Netflix.
