going to see Prince at the O2 arena and i need to ask peeps who have been there:
what's the Public transport like after the main gig has ended ?

and prince related questions: do you think non-pro cameras will be tolerated for th main shows and Aftershow parties?

I'm going too! - Mums dragging me along - Not sure its cool at 15 :p

(Mum would like to know similar)

What date you going? We're off on the 17th. (August) :)

Regarding the cameras I noticed on Ticketmaster that Barbra Streisand (no I am not going to that one) specifically says no filming or photography whereas Prince doesn't. So I am presuming it is OK to take one along until I see otherwise on the ticket.

yup 3 times at the mo, maybe more if i can swap shifts :)

there are def tix out there, pretty good ones too, maybe not the abs best floor tix, but some good lower tier ones on the main tix agencies.

and poss if you go to a auction site, maybe some bargains too.
there are *def* options to vip tix.
and you never know, there *might* be ticket drops by the Promoter.
i saw U2 do it with g/a tix several weeks before their gigs.

i have contacted the o2 people asking if Prince is ok with digi- no pro cameras but i've yet to get a reply-will bring a disposable and my poo fuji with me.

heh....Well I got the following tickets what you think ? - Paid £120 for them (Both)

"These seats are next to each other in the front 4 rows of Block 110"

o2: prince cameras are ok :)

just got word from a cool lady working for aeg /o2: stating cameras are allowed in for the Prince gigs for *both* venues O2 and Indigo2...But *only* if they are
Non-Pro *looking* cameras.
- hope people just do'nt go david Bailey :)

i just hope that Prince is ok about this.

edit

prince camera: confusing policy

main gig starts approx 8,30 pm.

Prince has no warm-up acts, but for the price for the tix this is'nt a prob to me .
cameras....well i dunno what happened, but at the first gig they had ticker tape info running witha message saying if anyone caught using cameras would be ejected from the arena.....whooaaaa maan that's heavy!
odd the 02 people to email me saying the opposite, i just kinda think the message given out to people at the show was to stop people going nuts click, click , click every few secs
but i saw no sec staff giving grief to anyone around me- but peeps in general though were not using pro cams or flash....maybe that helped.

but at the aftershow party the Sec peeps announced on the P/a that Flash photo was a no no.

well i took a few photos at the main gig but none were any good, mid row level 1 with my poo camera...well they were blurry.
aftershow pics with no flash....waste of batteries.

but the Main show was very slick show, i won't ruin it with spoilers ;)

but the After show was a real let down, main band played for ages, poss 1 hour before Prince came on.....and then he went off , he did come back, but he really did not play on many songs, could be four ?
the aftershow was only for BEatnicks hEavy on de Jazz... slow style, i can imagine people flocking to Ebay to flog their tix if all the Aftershow parties are like the first night.
the only good thing about the Aftershow Party was seeing Prince a lot closer....well seeing him clearly was another prob , stage was very dark .
show ended about 3 am,
major kudos to the band for playing as long they did after the main show had ended.

well in summing up, camera advice, if you wanna bring a camera -take one, but pob bring one you can afford to risk if Sec get nasty or bring a disposable one- with flash type off/on type.

ps. for anyone keen on Prince and might want to go, keep trying Ticketmaster or (ringing See tix, former is better at the mo for tix drops) on the day of the gigs.

they were even flogging the first After show gig tix on the doors.
so Try your luck for the main gig tix on the day of the show- for 32 quid it's good value, worth a go!

Thanks for that!..... Erm when you go into the arena, do you go through metal detectors - so they don't see my camera :p

Its juts a basic Canon Powershot S60, so hand size, doubt anyone will say anything, I am very close to the stage (1st 4 rows) after the gold circle.

Just wont use flash and I should get through ok, and be very careful how I take them! ;) - WILL deffo post some on here :D

Glad you enjoyed, whens the next one your going to?

Thanks :)

I was at the opening night (1st) and the aftershow too. There were cameras going off all over the place at the main show, despite the screens warning about it.
You'd be safe so long as you don't set up a tripod or anything!

The aftershow is a different thing altogether. Before Prince came on, it was fine - maybe five or six cameras lit up throughout, but after he came on for the first time, he was back out holding a small direct torch. This was given to security, and they flashed it in the faces of anyone with a camera.

They were singled out, basically, and either removed (one guy was, who appeared to be lying behind the speakers!) or certainly approached through the crowd and maybe their camera confiscated.

I'd say it's not worth the risk at the aftershow - unless you're very careful, but fill your boots at the main show. No metal detectors as far as I could tell, and bags were given a very cursory once over.

I didn't take any cameras to this gig, I thought I'd test the water, but I'm back on the 10th and 11th (one of those VIP) so I'll be kitted out. :-)

the only thing i can add to the aftershow party comment , as i was behind the rail.....near the bar.....well it was hot :) was i saw one guy told to stop video taping the show from his mobile phone.
i saw no cameras being removed....but i was pretty much at the back.....did i mention near the Bar lol :)

I :-)

from your position, do you think that the people who were singled out was because they *did* take pics with flash despite the *no* flash warning over the p/a?

Went on Friday Night.

I am a massive Prince fan and have seen him loads of times.

The Gig at O2 was, for want of a better word, CRAP!

The acoustics were terrible and Prince's voice was pretty much inaudible.

We waited at the aftershow (we got in at a quarter past midnight) until 3:45am and he never turned up!

Aftershow drinks prices?............... 2 X Vodka & Redbull....£11.50.
Entry Price £25

I've never been so Peed off in my entire life. :(

Regarding using flash, I actually think it was folks who were holding up a phone or camera full stop. If there are a few people doing it, you could probably 'get one off' then hide your camera.

Without a flash you'd be lucky to get anything worthwhile but give it a shot if you like!

Andy:

been reading Prince org site and seen comments about people claiming refunds, Phone customer support, be *civil*, polite, if poss under the circumstances......and you might get through to a human person who is a gig fan themselves.
as until recently the Aftershow gigs were being billed as Prince aftershows *not* Prince dj sets so people have a case if he did not show up to play a single song- see the loop hole now.
they have now changed the web page for these shows and can opt out of any refund if he does not show up, but people for fridays show have a case for a full refund.

Right, Will take a camera then....I'm in seats which are regarded as gold seats, so hopefully no guards are near...

Never bothered with the after show to be honest, but 17th August here we come!!!!!!
