Our print driver 'Generic 36C-1SeriesPCL' is interpreting fonts on PDF documents. This is causing a problems as they are printing as scrambled text because we do not have certain fonts

The printer model is an Olivetti D-Color MF-360, I have emailed their support and am downloading a driver for the MF200/240 from here

Is there a standard generic driver for printers that will print PDF and any document really, as straight images? A generic driver (the current one we have is not generic, although it is called that) would mean we dont get all the features of our printer such as double sided, stapling etc.

Update - Using an old MF22 driver works and prints the PDF files correctly but is unsigned so additional options cannot be added - such as trays

Not so much a driver, but there is a feature available on some drivers called 'send truetype as bitmap'. If you have this option and enable it then the driver will effectively send the job as an image to the printer which can often resolve issues with font's not printing correctly. It will be an option within the driver properties somewhere if you have it.
