Looking to buy a new printer since the old one died.

Ideally looking for something less than £100, which is cheap to run so i wont have to spend a fortune on ink.

Looking at options it seems there are inkjet or colour laser ones, what are the advantages of each?

Any recommended makes/models?

Thanks

Inket printers produce better quality photo's but are a lot more expensive to run.

Laser printers are ideal if your doing a lot of text printing. They are cheaper to run per page than an inkjet printer.

Do you ever want to print photo's? Are you after just a printer or an AIO (All In One, Printer, Scanner, Copier)

if you buy a inkjet, try to find a continous ink system for it too, it should in the long run dramatically cut down running costs

Don't buy a laser printer unless you plan to use it A LOT. Talking a couple of thousand pages each month. I work for Xerox and we get a few individuals (usually work with companies) who are angry that their expensive home printer lasted them only 1k total copies throughout the span of a year. The thing is without heavy usage the toner dries out and you really don't get much out of it. The print quality is better than inkjet but it's just not worth the money if you only plan on using it every now and then.

I am going to disagree, I have an laser printer, only a grayscale one, but the print quality is very good, also much quicker than an inkjet. I have had it for 8 years or so, before that it was the printer at my dad's work. I have only replaced the toner cartridge once, and that was after I printed out 800 pages in one afternoon.

Thanks for the advice guys, went for a hp officejet pro 8000 in the end. Seems like very efficient one and i wouldnt use a laser one enough to make the most of it
