Hey everyone.

I was just wondering if you could suggest a printer for me...

My Dad's current printer has now broken and he needs a replacement. Only catch is that it needs to run on Windows 98. Any suggestions? :)

Budget will be around the £40 mark.

Thanks :)

i dont think printers are restricted to which operating system
you are using m8.

if im mistaken ill be shocked.

get the best usb printer within your budget. as long as your da's com has usb sockets :) which im sure it will

You may well struggle to get something new that has drivers for such an old OS. Any particular reason he's on such an old OS? That isn't supported anymore I might add!

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

How about the CANON Pixma MX320 Multifunction Inkjet Printer, it has Windows 98 drivers ready for download on the site, but it isn't listed as supporting Windows 98. However it does run off of USB so I will mention it to him.

He has such an old operating system because he uses design software for work and he likes it how it is. He has however bought the newer version of the program and will run it off of windows XP.

Well there's a blast from the past, if it has drivers on the site then you will most likely be OK.

I was going to suggest just using the HP LaserJet 4 driver, but as it is clearly design stuff, losing handy functions, like colour, won't go down too well.

I had a interview with a firm yesturday, and a part of that was to write a letter as it were, anyway..

they were on windows 98 and office 2000 :/ the bloody thing crashed at the start and everything, nice blue screen of death.. i was laughing tbh.

Haha. I had to strip down really old machines in my work last week. They all had Pentium II's and 128mb RAM sticks with 6GB hard drives. I lol'd

Some things just survive from the dark ages somehow...
