Printer Problem! (Black is Grey?)

Basically, I've got a HP 1350 PSC and it's been printing fine till recently, the printer starts to print black as grey? Doing colour prints on "standard mode" just gives a very low contrast images.

Only way to get ride of the problem was to select printing in High Quality Mode or HP Premium Photopaper settings. That sorts out the colour issue but when printing black and white test, the black is still grey~ (even when set in higher settings)

Any advice?

I've cleaned the head, I've changed the ink cartridges, nothing.

is it set on draft copy in the options or do you use compatable cartridges ???

It's set on "normal" and have always worked, been using a refill shop for over a year without a problem and changed for an original HP cartridge, no change.

back to the OP have you changed any settings at all?, you could try deleting then reinstalling the printer so its back to defaults

Can't send it back, AFAIK, only 1 year warranty and this printer's been with us for over 3 years now?

I've not changed any settings AFAIK, might have to reinstall the driver e.t.c on the PC linked to it, for over 2 months now we've been using the wireless connection between pc to print over network. Tried printing directly from the linked PC as well, no change.
