Printer problem

Hi all

On my trip to the village post office today I got speaking to an oap who it turned out has been having problems with his printer. Now the only thing I know about his problem at the moment is the printer is a HP usb printer and the problem is that he said that he cannot print and documents from wordpad or MS word yet he can get the printer to print a test page :confused:

I have not heard of this kind of problem before so anybody got any possible answers to this strange problem ?

Maybe he hasn't set the printer as the default and clicking print throught Word etc is sending it to the MS Document Imager thingy (can't remember its name).

Just an idea.

Check his default printer.

I do think he said he had made the hp printer the default printer on his pc. obviously it is always a bit tricky to try and fault find without seeing the problem with your own eyes. I did find it strange that the printer would fire out a test sheet but would not print anything else.

ahh,

but when he says test page, is this the windows test page

or the printers built in test page, that could be the issue.

I would have thought the printers test page. The way he was talking it sounded like he could not print anything out really so I am presuming the only thing that works was the printer test page.

try reinstalling printer driver. or try and reboot pc with printer switched ON
