Printer sharing

Bought a lappy, wondering if i can share a printer wirelessly? I got a printer, connected to my main desktop PC, which connects wirelessly to my router. The laptop has wireless as well.

Is it possible to printer share like this?

Also, i assume that for me to print the PC which the printer is connected to must always be on?

If i bought a wireless print server then i assume that the PC wouldn't have to be on?
