Printers - Old or New?

Is there a forum view on whether it is better to get a cheap printer new (<£50) or something that was more expensive originally but used?

Essentially, do printers keep working?

Not trying to do anything fancy - printing a few dozen pages a month. Colour nice but not important, though find expensive ink irritating.
