Printing without a printer

The OP has six days (not hours) to try and find somewhere to print something off. He does have a printer with no ink, but has the internet that can be used to search for ink suppliers.

If they stuck Kiefer Sutherland in this storyline it could get put on TV, and repeated for eight seasons.

Yellow pages - Print Shop as your best bet. Not sure you will have much luck in a library, none I've been to have printers hooked up, only photocopiers, worth a try though I suppose.

I am confused as to why someone needs to ask how to solve such a problem. There are internet cafes, high street shops, friends and neighbours...he could easily print something.

As I've said, if I'm going to get any ink I need to find it in a high street store, not online, and it needs to be compatible with a dell printer. Was it really so unreasonable to ask this? No one forces you to read and answer the threads on this board.

I think you are failing to see it with common sense and reasoning.

Had you said something like:

"I urgently need to print something, my printer is out of ink, I'm on a small Island off Scotland, what do I do?"

But what you've asked for is advice on getting something printed with a WHOLE SIX days.... in that time you could have:

- Ordered ink cartridges online.
- Bought ink cartridges in a shop.
- Bought a new printer in a shop.
- Bought a new printer online.
- Asked a friend.
- Asked a stranger/neighbor.
- Gone to a Print Shop.
- Gone to an Internet Cafe.
- Gone to a library.

Can you not see how ridiculous what you are asking for is?

You've also got to take a look at yourself if you can't figure something out like this... and I say that with knowledge that you are on the forums of an internet shop dealing in computers and customizing computers, thus you clearly have some prior knowledgeable about printers and such devices compared to somebody who isn't familiar with computers all together.

If you need help with this... what else do you need help with in your life? This is why people are mocking you.

Not with Christmas less than a week away, snow across the country and no way for me to collect a package from a courier as I'll be at work all day.
- Bought ink cartridges in a shop.
I need a cartridge for a Dell printer. I'm not sure if they're available in high street shops. If I'm wrong about that then I'd appreciate it if you told me which high street stores stock Dell ink.
- Bought a new printer in a shop.
I don't think I can afford that.

I knew you could take digital cameras to shops to get prints made, I didn't realise that service was offered for people with files that needed printing but no camera. Now I know, I'll look into it. Thanks.
- Gone to an Internet Cafe.
Yup, you got me there. Should've thought of that :p

You do realize that when I said Print Shops, I didn't specifically mean Kodak/Boots/Jessops/etc, though I'm sure they will do a print out.

I mean Print Shops that are just that, they specifically deal with printing, business services and faxing which has existed as a practice since before I was born. As somebody else also pointed out, a lot of Stationers offers such services, ie Staples, Rymans etc.

All you need to do is get out the Yellow Pages and find your nearest one.
You could also use the internet!

There is no reason you couldn't order a cartridge online if you pay for express shipping, you may well get it. The longer you sit on your thumbs, the less likely you are going to receive it.

Finally, you said you are in Croydon, which is a major suburb of London, there is wealth of such places you could get this done. It's not like you are out in the middle of the styx.

Seriously you can buy a printer for £30 on the high street, probably more like £20 to be honest. Otherwise get it printed at Staples.

This is a non-issue if you have £5 to your name! Relax!

Print shops didn't even occur to me and I didn't realise that stationers offered this service.

I won't be at home to receive it, that's the problem with ordering online.

If you're that desperate and poor maybe the easiest thing would be to buy a printer from somewhere that allows returns and then return it.
