Shame in VBullutin they can't be limited to a couple a day. eg: 3 a day per person...

I had always assumed it had more to do with the fact that it was unpoliceable and therefore would be used as an easy method of circumventing the no competitors rule.

Yes, because getting an e-mail address from trust or a sig is so much harder
One click, typing, one click and you've sent a PM, bit more hassle for me to send an email but I do agree it isn't a huge problem if you wanted to avoid the rule.
