Private plate?

WTF? If you didn't make a claim it won't affect the price of your policy. It can't.

It does, if you report a non fault accident even if you don't make a claim it is still flagged by some insurers. NUD certainly do this. When I reported a non fault accident some years ago to them my premium went up, it was only when i questioned it that they said yes it was a non fault accident and they manually adjusted the premium so.

The bodyshop my work team leader's friend runs in Southampton (who gave me the 2nd quote for the vandalism fix last week) also confirmed this to him when I mentioned it in passing the other day and he didn't think it was true.

It's their automated systems that does it tbh.

If you don't claim, you don't report it to your insurer when you come to renew. If there's no claim it's none of their business.

For example, when I had my Passat, some silly woman drove into the back of me. The front of her car was damaged but the rear bumper of the Passat wasn't even touched. The towbar protected it. Since I had no damage and it was blatently her fault, no claim was made and the insurers didn't become involved at all.

I don't declare that at renewal and neither should you declare yours unless you want to get shafted.

Yup I did learn the hard way not to report things that won't be claimed off!
