Pro Cycling Discussion 2021

How he was riding a TT bike in that area of the world baffles me to start with.
I done two training stints there in my running days and honestly, if you weren't going up sharply, you were going down sharply. The thought of riding a TT bike there sends shivers down my spine.

He's a loon! Certainly got a lot of determination!

I only watched last 5k of Belgium tour, but think i'll watch more of it today, although Suisse looks like it could be interesting today! Was quite glad to see Remco lose that, thought the Giro would have knocked him down a peg or two but appears not. Few more disappointments will make him a better rider, still great to watch though!

Pair of great stages on suisse and Slovenia, good to see mvdp on the attack respecting the Jersey knowing he had no chance.

Really like watching carapaz, something so calculated yet aggressive about his riding! Hopefully he'll get an equal chance at tdf.

Yup, very similar to Roglic and maybe even Bernal (recently) in a way. Great to watch! Martinez very similar too?!

Suisse was a good watch, that iTT was a really interesting stage, had to watch the full thing rather than highlights!

Not watched any of Belgium or Slovenia, any suggestions which?

Wellens out of TDF squad due to some illness hampering form. Gutted!

Will he, won't he. He will.

Cav going to Le Tour! Wonder how much is the knee injury to Sam or just that Cav is clearly riding well currently and brings more money to DQS just by being there. Sounds like a lot of contract ramblings in the background.

Awesome, I hope he gets a few wins. He beat some solid opposition at the last stage of Baloise Belgium so it looks like he’s up to it

Makes for more interesting sprint stages at least, having some investment as to who wins. I doubt he'll ever get to 34, but it'd be good to see him get at least one more after the last few years he's had.

Today's the day! No idea what this tour will be like. I really hope it is open and like wacky races with the lead changing and different riders looking strong on different days.

Jumbo don't look anywhere near as strong as they did last year, but we've not seen them go for much since Paris nice and basque country. Vingegard has looked good but kuss and gesink haven't look as strong and reliable as theye did last year. Wva is a bit of an unknown, but appears whole team have gone in with plenty of rest.

UAE have definitely strengthened up, but the wasn't hard compared to last year! Pogacar is definitely going to have some allies at the key points, but he will be put to the sword if he has a bad day unlike last year where roglic never went for the kill.

Ineos is stacked and its obviously predominantly around Thomas with the tt miles but you know he's always close to a crash, but he has had one recently at Dauphine so maybe that's him for the year. Super strong through the team although kwiato and castroviejo haven't looked as impressive as in previous years.

I think Thomas will win it if he stays upright, and failing that it'll be roglic but it'll be close all the way to the finish.

Think angel Lopez will be up there in top 5 until the final tt at least.

And I really hope cav wins a stage or 2 and if he does win one early you know another will come as his confidence breeds self confidence.

Oh has anyone watched second series of least expected day yet? Only watched first few eps but it is hilarious at points how amateur a team like movistar are.

Wtf was going on with that horrific road section less than 5k in to today's stage. Absolutely ridiculous. That crash although small was not a surprise whatsoever.

Idiot of a supporter.

I've been to many pro bike races and one thing I know is that pro riders cycle about twice as fast as the average joe like me, so when they are coning you get out the way. Crazy. She got her wish though, her face is on tv....!

yep, went to watch the tdf three years ago. The average joe fan that turns up for the first time really doesn't understand how fast these guys are going. Oh well she has her fame now as being the most hated woman in France.

Craziness. I often wonder about this kind of thing, or when a fan runs on a pitch, is there a legal reprocussion?
I think it depends on the country and the sport. In the UK you can be prosecuted/fined for entering the pitch in some sports ,certainly cricket.

I'm pretty sure in France they have laws about endangering the public so they may be able to prosecute the spectator with the sign. The ASO seem to be making a formal complaint to the authorities which would be the first step down the legal route.

21 injuries from the two crashes yesterday, 4 abandons, and looking at this list you'd think more to come.

So alaphillippes phenomal ride was superceded by an even better ride by mvdp today. The first attack for points was impressive but that second was ridiculous.

Pog and Rog going for those bonuses relentlessly. Both looking super strong and quite evenly matched! Suspect a somewhat quieter day tomorrow.

The tour organisers are looking to sue the spectator
