Use the r2 shot, for a placed shot, it's slightly slower and sidefooted but it's way more acurate and superior in most cases to the normal shot.

Pass a lot but be direct also, exploit the break making use of effective through balls, especially if you have fast wingers or strikers.

Learn a team at a time and how each player on the team plays, and adjust your style to them when they are on the ball.

Learn how to do supercancel and shotcancel to fool defenders and keepers, learn how to dribble like a demon when you've got Christano Ronaldo or somebody. :D

Oh and just use R2 loads generally!

:)

what shoudl R2 do when running? do i have a duff pad? it just slowed my guy down to less than dribbling speed so i gave up on it!

It's for using skills, it makes your turn speed faster and lets you pass more accurate, you generally need it to get past people. Although r1 sprint is great in space if you hold it down a lot you will run into people and get tackled loads.

R2 with no direction will stop you dead too.

one thing i am wondering is that will i get better by persisting at a hgher level. With england i can win on 4 star 75 % of time but on master league and actual league i can not seem to score a goal.
My aim is to get good at this game so i can win on 5 star shall i put it down a notch or persist and i will gett better eventually

You'll only ever get really good by playing other people.

Computers good for initial practice though. I would say play as high as you can and use the shooting practice now and again too, to perfect finishing skills.

I personally find like with most games you get better eventually, but if you aren't having fun then there isn't really a point. If you find it a bit hard, lower it for a bit till you get more confident over the controls, then raise it after that.

If you feel you are getting better slowly though, then keep it as hard as possible. I find that principle true in most games. Soon you will be "whipping" it in no time! (sorry couldn't resist... dont hurt me :()

*EDIT*

Also agreed with the above post. Humans are the best to play against, if you know anyone that you can play with, or if you have a slimline PS2, you could play against others online!

*EDIT 2*

Thank god the post finally worked right :/
