I've been an avid Pro Evo fan for many years but seeing how everyone around me is banging on about FIFA 2011, I've decided to at least rent it to and give it a bash. Don't get me wrong, i love PES2011 but sometimes i just find it frustrating with stupid bugs that are in the game.

Anyone else taken the plunge from Pro Evo 2011 to FIFA 2011, how'd you find it?

I think most jumped from PES to FIFA a few years ago.

I was PES through and through until FIFA 08 came out, it was just much better online which is all I care about really.

Most people made the jump around the time of FIFA 08. Personally I thought FIFA 08 was outstanding, I don't think they've matched it since though and I've now gone back to Pro Evo.

Neither is truly exceptional in their currents iterations, but I think FIFA is technically the better game and has more range. For some reason though I stop enjoying FIFA after a few hours, while Pro Evo still remains fun to me game after game.

Exactly why I'm still playing PES2011 but i just want to see what all the hype is about in regards to FIFA 2011.

Give it a try then, there's certainly a lot to like about FIFA. The only suggestion I could give would be to put a fair amount of time into FIFA before deciding whether or not you like it.

I've always been a Pro Evo fan but after playing both the demo's this year (and the many previous years' failure for online play!) I decided to get FIFA to try it out!

Played it for a week or so and just couldnt get comfy with it (mainly I think due to pressing pass instead of shoot I have to say - why cant they both be the same by default!?!?) so I chopped it in and got PES - which I played for about half a week until I realised it was very poor!

Anyway, I've ended up going back to FIFA to give it another go and I must admit I'm glad I did!

Once you get used to it, its a very playable game!

Still not a patch on PES from their PS2 days for playability, but in my opinion, its the best football game available at the moment! (and it still hurts to say that!)

The last PES I bought was 2008. FIFA is a much better game these days but there's still a certain something missing. Every goal I scored in PES felt satisfying, like I'd achieved something. FIFA sometimes feels like I just got lucky/unlucky sometimes.

in 2008 the console FIFA was much better than PES so a lot of people migrated over. I only had a PC and the FIFA on PC wasn't very good so i was forced to stay with Pro Evo.

I think this is the first year FIFA has been any good/the same on the PC as it is on console and having played both FIFA 2011 and PES 2011 I have found that PES is a more satisfying game of football. Mostly because it's more like the real thing than FIFA is imo. However, it's swings and roundabouts and some people prefer FIFA (I imagine largely because they're now more familiar with the "style"; and visa-versa for PES).

I don't believe that "FIFA is a much better game these days", infact almost all the reviews I read rated the 2 very similarly so it really is nothing more than a matter of whichever you prefer. Can't you borrow a copy from someone and see what you're most comfortable with?

But I think long term you will probably find that Pro Evo has that edge which people have stated is missing from FIFA

I own them both on PS3, I have been pro evo man since PES 4, I find Fifa has better presentation overall and has some nice game modes like Ultimate team.

But when it gets down to gameplay I only enjoy Fifa for few games and then I seem to bored, when playing pes vs my house mates and vs the computer its just great fun, like what wedgie said when you score a goal on pes its means more than scoring on Fifa.

it turned again this year IMO , well from the limited amounts of PES ive plated PES is like football , fifa is like a game of chess with a football game skin

the problem is none of my mates will trust PES after the last few years so im playing fifa

and stevieP you can change the buttons on fifa to pes controls with one movement in the options :p

Neither game has been fun for a while imo, FIFA may "technically" be a decent game in terms of graphics, player movement etc but I just find it incredibly dull.

The last good football game was PES6

I got FIFA yesterday and played it for a couple of hours, so a bit early to say too much.

My initial thinking was that wow, it look really 'pretty' and obviously has all the official licenses etc, then i got down to the game play, which isn't too bad either, except for one thing, the passing.

In PES2011, it has manual passing which i love when executed correctly but in FIFA the passing just seems slow, sometimes when i want to ping a pass fast pass along the ground, i can't, even when i have the power gauge to maximum. Am i doing something wrong? I've also set the game play speed to 'Fast'

Also, how do you download the latest data package for latest squads etc?

Yeah your lagging behind a little mate, I jumped ship back in 2008.

PES was quality and by far the best football game on the market before the "next gen" consoles came along and Konami seem to be unable to make a game to match the new hardware..... don't even mention the online aspect of the game, shocking.

Have you played PES2011? It just seems to flow better the FIFA for me at the minute. Online is MUCH improved also from PES2010, which was shocking.

PES is terrible, its like ping pong, if you take a skilled player from fifa he will beat anyone at PES, if you take a skilled PES player he wont be able to do anything on fifa.

its a lot more technical, it has a lot more to the game.

i used to love PES but for the past few years their game doesnt even resemble football.

its ping pong passing, the players dont feel real, and its just horrible. anybody who disagree's obviously doesnt know how to play football.
