Pro Evo to FIFA :(

ive always rathered PES over fifa. fifa is incredibly dull and predictable. pes on the other hand is more true to football in the sense that you can create chances out of nothing build up play in realistic manner, and play to your teams strenghts and personality.

i argue with friends who say fifa is better and say "look how they run on pes" which is a fair assessment but theres more to a game of football than how they run. theres so much satisfaction when scoring a goal on pes that was created out of nothing rather than playing the with the same routine over and over again on fifa and scoring teh same old dull goals.

what do you mean by created out of nothing?

show me some examples of great PES goals on youtube?

PES nowadays seems terrible, the last three fifa games - '10, South Africa and '11 are far more realistic and very competitive and incredibly fun games for anyone who has played it for more than a day. Saying that, I couldn't go back to '10 after playing '11, the difference is immense, so much better.

Konami pretty much ruined their reputation with some weak entries to the series. Maybe they assumed FIFA would never get close, unfortunately their complacency coincided with FIFA getting a whole lot of things right.

I'm not getting the impression that people are saying it's terrible based on playing it more than a few tries of the demo, I believe Pro Evo's poor reputation now works against it much like its good reputation used to work in its favour. Even at its best I've never found Pro Evo to make the greatest first impression, so if people go into it expecting a poor game that's what they're going to find. It does have some pretty obvious flaws, animations look very odd at first, commentary is pathetic even by their own low standards, penalties are ridiculous, difficulty is increased in some extremely cheap ways, it's now possible to make a fairly substantial list of places where FIFA has the upper hand.

But whatever it was about the older versions that made us play over and over, for me at least PES 2011 has regained some of that magic. The rot started with Pro Evo 5 and had well and truly set in by 6, so having played PES 2011 for many hours now I feel confident in saying it's the best version since 4. Of course the good thing is these days there is an absolutely viable alternative that for many people is a genuinely better game. That's something I can't take away from FIFA, but what I would say is that while Pro Evo is understandably still being assumed as being poor, for long time Pro Evo players especially, those assumptions could be leading you to miss out on a decent version of a game you used to love.
