Sorry for all the detail but it was a cut and paste job, so it's all in tho i have a low end gnu to go in and a sound card, really tonight i just wanted to see if it would switch on.

However, with it plugged in, then power on i just get a flicker from the front LCD display on the case and then nothing, how every i don't see a kettle plug that i thought came with the case, so used one from my current pc, im sure they are all the same, but so far that's been it...any ideas?

Keep going over it.

All i have in is one stick of ram, the main motherboard poet connection, the cpu fan and system fan and the power switch and one HD.

Ok, weird thing, it will come un when i unplug the power cable for the sys fan to the mb, hmm not sure about that one, also if i just hook the screen up to the via on this board would it show anything like the mother board boot up screen?

Can you confirm the 4 or 8 pin for cpu power is connected, as this often gets missed on builds.

Also try a CMOS reset.

sorry resat everything...think the 4 pin cpu might have been loose or not seated right, small case so hard to push down on stuff, but seems to be working fine now!

Just while im here, what kind of temps should the cpu be sitting at idle in the bios?

Seems to be about 38o with the cpu fan speed about 1125 rpm, case open.

Depends on your ambient room temperature.

Based on the cooler I'd say 25-35 degrees at idle. Don't be worried if it's above that though - my Dad's gets up to 40-45 at idle.
