Ive bought a new CPU, if I install it into my current computer will it work straight away or will it require a fresh Windows install?

Thanks

Only problems might be if you had a single core cpu and have upted to a multicore one. As previously mentioned though, it should work no problems although Windows may need reactivating?

I presume that you have bought the right CPU for the socket on your motherboard right?

I'm going from an X2 to an X4 AMD, so 2 core to 4.

Its an AM2+ board so that shouldn't a problem, hopefully.

that will depend on your current mobo
not all the am2 mobos will accept a phenom processor
hopefully you will only need a bios update to get it working.

Check the manufacturers website before hand to see the CPU support list.

If you havent done this already you could have potentially wasted a couple hundred quid! Just dont break the packaging seal until you know!
