Probably a silly psu question

Basically my psu in my PC just went bang (annoyingly) and so it needs replacing.

I wasnt going to upgrade my PC till the end of April when i get my yearly bonus however i need to buy something new now.

My question is i currently have a p4 (1 core) with a pci-e graphics card. Are all psu's compatible with 1 core as well as with quad core as i dont want to buy a psu now and buy another one in a few months time.

The newer PSU's offer better features and more connections but will work fine in your P4

Yep as above, just make sure you get a decent PSU with reasonable wattage.

i had a fairly decent tagan (520w) that just went bang so i was looking at either a corsair or a tagan again.

Either brand would be fine for your uses, Corsair are pretty well regarded and have a 5 year warranty, the prices are roughly equivalent so maybe just toss a coin.

PSU choice is a lot dependant on personal choice and experience, I've always been an Enermax user and can't fault their supplies but have read good things about Corsair and Seasonic.
