probably going blind but

I believe the 4870x2 has been end of line for a while now, none are being made so stocks have been run down to a point where there aren't any left to buy brand new.

I think i would upgrade the rest of your computer before thinking of getting a HD4870x2, i can see the 3800+ as being a bottleneck currently.

Good point...

My 4600x2 was massively bottlenecking my 8800gt before i upgraded:) And your 4870 is a lot better than my 8800gt...

hold on is this it
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 2048MB GDDR5 Vapor X PCI-Express Graphics Card [11133-17-20R]

No, that's a 4870, as it says ;).

As has been said, upgrade the rest of your PC first, there's no point in a 4870X2 with the current PC you have.

I'd also say that there's no point in going for a 4870X2 once you've upgraded too. A 5 series will be a much better buy.

There are brand new 4870X2s knocking around, but with the newer cards, it's not really a card worth getting unless you're getting it for bargain prices.
