Probably the billionth Xbox or PS3 thread...

Ps3 has better hardware, bluray, the controllers are smaller (xbox ones really are big for small hands), more media, an Internet browser, free online play, PC connectivity for media.

Xbox has more people screaming in lobbies, constant racist abuse, 101 menus to move through on the home screen, 100 of which are adverts, forza and halo (the only reason I still own mine).

In the past, the major upside to xbox was always that it was cheaper, that's changing now though and by the time you've factored in xbl, it's false economy anyway.

My Mate has actually ended up paying nearly £80 more than me for his 120GB 360 and live for the last few years, Compared to my Ps3 250gb slim! Kinda obvious in the long run 360 sucks, Its just a Massive Con

Sky Player was the major pro for me deciding to get a Xbox 360 and as such I'm now selling my PS3 after having 2 in the last 3-4 years. Mainly due to Sky Player as mentioned something the PS3 my never get and multi-platform titles have a tendency to run better on xbox due to developers.

I have both, firstly the Kinect, it is a waste of money in my opinion, the boredom factor will take over in the blink of an eye and a year on and there are still no real decent games for it. Don't allow the Kinect to be a selling feature.

Bluray is good on the PS3 as has already been pointed out and free online game playing against mates is always going to beat having to pay for Xbox gold to get online game playing.

*edit just looked at page two and you have the Xbox lol * Star Wars Lego was always raved about, personally before buying any game I have a look on youtube at actual in game footage to gain an idea if I would like it or not...

XBL charges suck, but my 360 isn't for online play.

Console = Party and exercise games.
Computer = Everything else.

Better Hardware - What's that got to do with anything, Devs make games to run on the hardware available. And the 360 Devs and PS3 Devs do a good job with both sets of hardware. And FYI, The Cell is great in PS3 and devs have got their heads around it, which is nice, but the GPU is better on the 360.

Bluray - Yep, PS3 has Bluray and its an awesome feature, I'll give you that.

The Controllers are smaller - Yes they are, The the 360's are bigger, Regardless both controllers are fine. Some people complain on the small PS3 controller, I dont. Some people Complain of the large 360 controller, I dont. Adaptability.

More Media - Not really, if you had said more media capability. Then I would agree, but more available media. Nope.

Internet Browser - Yep, Cant argue there

Free Online play - Yep, again online play is free and in my opinion great. Although it lacks a feature or 2 thats available on Xbox live, which you pay for.

PC Connectivity for Media - yes the PS3 has PC connectivity for media....So does the 360.

To be honest you missed a massive feature which I give much praise to the PS3 for, It's ability to have it's internal storage used. I have converted all my TV shows to PS3 compatible movie files, Ready for storage direct on my 320gb PS3. Some argue that you dont need it on 360 as you can stream from a computer, but I always prefer to not need 2 machines running to watch shows on 1 of them. Defies the point if you ask me.

Congrats on finally getting a PS3, makes your opinion on every thread like this a lot more valuable since you finally got one :)

As for streaming, yeah nobody likes to have 2 machines running :p but if that really bothered you then a 360 with external HDD would work just fine so not really much of a massive feature IMO.

Congrats to the OP on making the right choice :D

haha, just noticed this. Thanks! Got to be honest though, I got more play time on the PS3 before I actually owned one! Since I've started night shift, I get maybe an hour a day at most. :( Where as before I spent most my time at my girlfriends playing with hers(Inuendo Win)

I prefer night shifts pay, But I miss my day shifts nights.

I have both and play both and would still always recommend the ps3, also this will be a rather big decider for you as im sure you boy gets older and wants to play online he can set up his own account for free and play his friends if you have xbox live you either have to pay several subscriptions to xbox live or all use the same account, which is ok but if your enjoying the same game online youll all be using the same account :(. Sounds also like the games on the ps3 will be more suited to you and your family. Uncharted for the mrs ***. and finally as for move and kinect there about the same to be fair. there are some good titles out for move already including killzone 3 and kinect has got forza 4 on board but for me move is better you have something in your hand which is what gaming is about. hope this helps

4 days ago the opening poster stated he bought a 360 and asked about games and still this thread is being bumped talking about xbox or ps3.......... :/

I know uve already purchased but, xbox is by far the better machine for online play. Offline play, ps3 every day :p

And the OP has since bought:
Hydrophobia - mmm yeah ok, seems like the storyline could get half decent soonish.
Resident Evil 5 - Why oh why did I buy?
Halo ODST - just well because the boy likes shooting stuff
Some gore based cartoon thingy - YAY!

Looks like Castle Crushers needs to be on the list... along with a third controller so the whole familly can slash toon based monsters :)
