FIXED THANKS WAZZA!

Hello,

I have a problem with the dreaded BSOD

It seems to happen randomly and of course I have restart switched off.

The disk is currently a crucial M4 SSD 64GB

I've tried the CHKDSK from windows and it finds no errors

When I restart the PC it doesn't find the SSD and reboots an older version of WIn 7 that I left on my my old drive.

I've never had any BSOD when running under this old drive.

On 2nd reboot of my PC the SSD shows again in Win 7 but for some reason doesn't get selected on Boot I would have to manually rearrange the drives in Bios to get it to load.

Should I just consider this SSD as on the way out and abandon or is there a way to rescue it.

BTW despite my best efforts I can't seem to get windump to work so don't have any logs. it just hangs on initializing the file.

download ssdlife and look to see the firmware version and the hours use on the m4,theres a common 5400 hour use bug that causes freezing which is fixed by flashing the ssd to a newer fw

no the rest of specs are

Core I5 2500K not overclocked crime I know lol
8 GB memory
ASUS P8P67 Rev B3
HD 7800 series

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2062978/ssdlife.JPG here is the ssdlife file you are right it's over the 5400 range should I try flashing the SSD?

Quick question re flashing is it ok to flash it even if it's not currently the boot drive?

or should i boot into it to flash would had for a BSOD during flash process....

it's still on firmware 00009 which seems quite old now.

Wazza you were spot on mate it worked a charm no more BSOD.

Thanks for your help.

I have an OCZ SSD as well is it always worth flashing them to the latest firmware?

No problem

It's upto you,If the ocz is working fine I don't see any point flashing it tbh,it pays not to mess to much with ssd's,I knew about the m4 freeze bug but it will run fine now you've updated it
