Now...I'm going out on a limb here. My theory's a bit left-of-field, a bit wacky...But...

...Maybe....

...It used it's mouth?

As far as I know, cats can neither assimilate prey nor absorb it via osmosis...

Got a chuckle here :D

To begin with I was going to post 'what is an adder?' but after a quick google i'm scared. I never knew we had any snakes in Britain let alone 3 different kinds! My phobia has just gotten a lot worse

How dum are you?! :p

I've seen a cat kill slow-worms/grass-snakes many times, but never an Adder. When I was a wee boy I caught an adder and killed it with a rock :o

Can't imagine it would do a cat any good eating one, or why it would even want to eat one.

Smell BS, PICS PLZ & XRAYZ OF SNAKE IN CAT KTHX....

I'm guessing that the OP is in mourning.

Nothing posted since 1:48am yesterday :(

Kitty may you RIP. :'(

Not sure about the rules for this as its not to do with humans. My friends cat has managed to eat an adder and has gone a bit crazy (weasy). Not sure if there is any avaliable vets at this moment. Any ideas what to do?

Call the vet's surgery. They should be able to cut open the cat and save the adder depending on how long ago it happened. Good luck, I hope the adder is ok! They are a protected species after all.

It deff was an adder. Sorry took so long, been camping in the new forest. Think the cat is fine (if it had died, owner would have said something as i went camping with him). Bilbo (the cat) and I say thanks. :)

so what did you actually end up doing?

I think the cat had thrown up the adder, and my friends mum had managed to get through to someone. Reason for post was for any info for the time until professional help could be reached.

Did the adder survive?

If survive means party digested and mostly regurgitated (sp), am afraid not :p

Appears Bilbo is a very outgoing cat and catches pretty much anything, bit off more than he could chew this time ;)

I'll get my coat. :p
