Problem hang at post or setup

Hi guys,

I recently bought a conroe 6600, scythe infinity, asus p5w workstation, geil 6400 low lat ram, tagan 700 w psu. After installation, it would power up and then hang at post or in setup menu. I wouldn't be able to reboot until a few mins cool down. I checked the hardware monitor and the cpu temp is around 38. I tried taking out the mobo and running out of case. Same things happen so I know nothing is shorting anything etc. As I need this sorted asap(leaving job in 7 w days), I am wondering has anying experienced anything similar because I can not identify the solution to this problem. Is there anything I need to do first? I hvae been building phase changed systems for a long time so I know I didn't do anything wrong(ie, no skill hehe).

Maybe a long shot but there was another thread here with similar problem (post but no boot), turned out one of the cores died. He got a replacement from Intel and all worked fine.
 
mine would crash just at posting or in bios mode. I switch it off and it will power back on but keeps on crashing. Dunno whats the problem... Don't even know if anything is at fault or just me not connecting the mobo correctly...

tried booting with 1 stick at a time and so far the second stick is doing fine. no crashes within 5 min. Guess its RMA time for GEIL!!!! damn, don't have lots of time left to finish it.
 
ocuk are now telling me to try to set the correct timings and voltage... la la la, can't believe it... they can't seem to understand that it would crash in bios. and default bios has much more relaxed timings and oops, i did set the voltage to 2.1v...damn it, i need this sorted before I leave....
