Hello,
Bloody typical isn't it, following a thread on here where I was weighing up an upgrade, I decided today that I would hold off for a month before I go ahead for cashflow reasons.
So, I get home from work and go to boot up my PC, it turns on, the fans kick in as usual, there isn't much HDD activity which had me worried and the monitor scanned all its sources and found nothing so goes into standby.
Now, another thing I noticed was that the fan on the graphics card, which usually starts at full power when I turn the PC on and then drops to about 50% after 10 seconds or so, just stayed full power the whole time.
This lead me to believe it was my GFX card (Radeon X1900XT) as I have had a similar problem in the past. I took it out, cleaned out a load of dust from it, reseated it and tried again..........nothing!!!
So....what else could it be? Or is my graphics card screwed?
Cheers
EDIT: Something worth mentioning. I had just plugged in a new USB keyboard, whereas before I used a PS/2 keyboard. I have tried both now and it still won't boot (well, it turns on but monitor stays in standby)
EDIT: My USB mouse doesn't light up like it usually does. Motherboard gone?
