Every time I restart my computer I get this message:

"Checking File system on C:
The type of the file system is NTFS

One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly reccomended that you continue.
Windows will now check the disk."

When it has ran the check it says "Windows has checked the file system and found no problems"

I have Windows 64bit and my HDD is a "Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM"

This only started yesterday and the only things I did yesterday was install a couple of games (The Witcher Enhanced Ed and Crysis Warhead) after they installed I ran disk cleanup, defragged the hdd and ran a spybot scan. Now when I went into disk defragmenter I noticed that along with my C: there is also another disk listed called System Reserved (I did not defrag this one) Any help would be great.

P.S. I have an i7 2600K with one of the older motherboards (not revised) is this a sign of the problem with this series of mobo?

Sorry but in my experience if chkdsk is running every time or even often on startup then its a sign that the drive may be starting to fail.

Had many many customers confirm this when they come to me with their dead drives.

Get everything backed up just to be safe

I hope not. The pc is only about three weeks old. And it is doing it every start up.

Right, I have reinstalled windows and no more checks. Decided it was probably quicker installing everything again than searching for hours. Will report back if problem comes back. Thanks everyone

Everything Was working fine until today, I plugged my external hard drive into one of the front panel usb 2 ports, my usb mouse stopped working, tried unplugging it and putting it back in but still didn't work. Used the keyboard to shut the pc down and when I turned it back on the bloody checks have come back.

I was in the middle of running checks with hdtune and my monitor has turned itself off. The pc is still on but the monitor has gone to standby and won't come back on

The Screen didn't turn back on so I pressed the windows button then right and enter, the screen came back on and the pc shutdown normally. I got a fleeting glimpse of hd tune, it was more than half finished with no red squares, all green
