last night i was playing little online games and i got a msg from my task bar (bottom right) saying i had no hard drive space left 0 bytes to be exact.

i was like wtf because i had about 4 - 6 GBs left. Any way i got rid of 2.02GBs of stuff off my computer and everything was ok to a certain point.

now ive woken up to find i only have 640mbs left.

is there something eating away at my HDD or is it because its a little old now and needs renewing its about 5 years old

please help?

not a minute after posting this topic my hard drive now reads 568mbs what is eating my gard drive away

Something is generating temp files, the trick is, as you say, to find what it is.

Do you have something like Treesize Pro or the like which will give you a breakdown of space usage by directory. Running this over time should give you an idea of where the space is being burned and hopefully therefore a clue to the cause.

ive never heard of treesize pro tbh but ill have a look for it and give it a try.

i was thinking that its because its old and just basically falling apart if u know what i mean.

I got rid of a sound driver thats i wasnt currently using on my computer and when i looked at my HDD space it had actually taken space of and not put space on it

ok i did a virus scan with AVG that i have and i found no viruses.

Would it be best using Kaspersky or is AVG sufficent enough.

is there any other reasons why its doing this.

If AVG is what you normally use then I'd suggest trying something else whether it be Kaspersky or something else. As rpstewart says though something like Treesize Pro and taking the time to check out the results should show you which directory is expanding to fill the available space which may help you work out why.
