Problem PSU ?

I built a new computer about a year back i7 with a Corsair TX650W.

The PSU died after a few weeks, I got a replacement but it wasn't the same, it makes strange noises. I should probably have sent it back but didn't want to be without a computer for ages again, waiting on another RMA that cost me more in postage. I figured I'd put up with the noises.

This morning I could hear my computer whistling away (I wasn't using it), then I heard it reboot, first time win 7 had ever done that on me. I couldn't find any logs saying what happened other than it shut down unexpectedly. It seemed to run ok, the only thing I could see was the taskbar icons had gone back to default. I put last weeks backups in a file to keep until I'm sure everything is fine and took a fresh backup. I'm happily listening to some music and reading a forum post, nothing stressful and bang off it goes, like the power had gone out. It started up again, same as before.

Does this sound like the PSU ?

Anywhere I can look to find out why it crashed, been a long time since I had to deal with it and not in win7. In the reliability monitor is just says

The previous system shutdown at 16:43:47 on ‎15/‎02/‎2011 was unexpected.

I've been looking at youtube vids trying to find a similar noise without success. Its hard to describe but it kind of makes a click and the computer freezes for a second, then it chirps and whistles, almost like something starting up. It might do this once a hour or so, I've gotten so used to it, its hard to say.

I would send it back right away - even if it is annoying for you. Would you rather have a psu that could potentially be faulty and take out other components if it decides to keel over and die painfully or would you rather be reassured?

My Corsair 1000W PSU makes clicking sounds, yet the computer is running fine.

I bought an Antec 1000W PSU for backup anyway.
