Problem setting up windows 7

Hi guys,

Got a new SSD, trying to install windows 7 on it.

I've taken out my old hard drive and just stuck the SSD in and tried to do a clean windows 7 install.

everything goes well, all installs, but it gets to the complete installation part, the computer restarts, with the Window Starting logo, which glows a few times, then I get a black screen?

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Apart from turning the SATA controller from IDE to AHCI (which it should have been set to anyways for a SSD) then no, re-install?

I have set the controller to AHCI and it did it. Also tried installing it with IDE and same problem. It all recognises fine, but when it starts windows up, i just get no signal to my monitor after the windows starting screen comes up with the glowing logos.

I've tried reinstalling several times already.

I got the Corsair Force 3 120GB (new model not firmware issue one) and Gigabyte Ma-790XT-UD4P mobo.

Also can I add that, after that failed, I've reconnected my old HDD and the computer works fine so I doubt its anything to do with hardware of the PC

Seems to be something to do with SSD, windows 7 or maybe the sata controller configuations

Will try to flash it in the morning now most likely. Will get back to you after that. But I'm guessing that won't be the problem anyway.

Installing 64 bit mate.

Really annoying, because all looks well, then it goes to load windows and then pure black screen (before the login screen but after the starting windows screen)

cheers anyway guys

I would also try setting the BIOS to defaults as well, just in case, but remembering to set AHCI after.

I've reset the CMOS but still the same.

Will look at updating the firmware now.

Only got 1 monitor, got an ATI hd 4870

Tried seeing if it will start in safe mode? Might be something up with the graphics drivers? Could try checking if there are any errors that might help if you can get into safe mode too.

Safe mode says, cannot start in safe mode, haven't configured it for first time use or something along those lines. Things you would normally get in a new install when booting for the first time basically.

For some reason, the Firmware update tool does not find the hard drive?

I can see the drive in Computer and put things on it but the updater can not detect the SSD even though I can see it?

When you installed and tried booting from the SSD you had the old drive removed completely?

Edit...first post says you did.
