Problem setting up wireless router with VM broadband

I've got a Azurewave AW-GR520 wireless router with 4 port switch that I'd like to connect to my Virgin Media 4mb broadband, so that five laptops can share the internet connection.

I've followed the instructions given on the leaflet, and sadly things go awry at the first hurdle. It says to open a browser and enter the routers IP, given as 192.168.0.1. This should bring a config page up, but theres nothing. My laptop is connected via a cable to the router, the connection did say 'Limited or no connectivity' at first, but I entered an IP manually on TCP/IP config and that sorted it.

The internet itself works flawlessly, I have the modem connected to my laptop as I'm posting this now.

Any ideas? I can access a status page for the modem by entering 192.168.100.1, but can't get anything up about the router.

Any assistance appreciated, thanks.

I would set your IP back to configure automatically.. presuming your router has DHCP enabled type in the command prompt (start > run > cmd)

ipconfig/release
ipconfig/renew

should request a new ip from the router. This is jsut incase your router is using some funky subnet mask you dont know about! (you may not be on the same network as the router = not being able to display the router page.)

im interested to know the outcome of this thread because i tried setting up a friends router the other day same make and model on virgin and just couldnt get it to work.

if you have any joy id be very interested to know.

Tried releasing and renewing my IP, still didn't work. I'm thinking of taking it back and getting a model from one of the big, established names.

Bought a Netgear WPN824 rangemax router which works great. The setup process was very easy and went without a hitch.

Moral of the story: don't buy cheap crap.
